With more than 31 years of maintenance experience—including 25 with Groot—Jerry Evans, maintenance manager at Waste Connections, specializes in single-stream recycling and transfer station operations. Over the past decade, he’s  managed maintenance across multiple hauling sites and compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations and gained hands-on experience in construction and demolition recycling.
Jerry collaborates daily with division leadership and the maintenance team to ensure operational efficiency and proactively address challenges. His project leadership includes a full rebuild of the Groot Plainfield recycling center, two major recycling facility builds, transfer station builds, CNG fueling expansions and numerous upgrade initiatives at recycling centers.
Jerry was honored  with the 2024 Dick Polnow Vision and Values Award for the Midsouth Region, recognizing exceptional leadership and alignment with Waste Connections’ core values.
